Charitable organizations are being rated, reviewed, and ranked by charity watchdog organizations that gather information about your organization from Form 990s, annual reports, audited financial statements and your organization’s own website. How does your organization rank? Join us to learn steps on improving your nonprofit’s ratings, as well as taking control of the information that is being distributed about your organization.
Who Should Attend: Individuals who are new to managing, volunteering on boards, or providing financial services for nonprofit organizations are encouraged to attend.
Learning Objectives:
1. An overview of the primary watchdog organizations and the criteria they use to evaluate nonprofits.
2. Steps your charitable organization can take now to improve its charity profile rating.
3. Resources your charitable organization can use to help communicate and highlight its impact in the community.
Participants will earn 1.0 CPE credit in Specialized Knowledge.
To receive credit, attendees must respond to three out of the four poll questions asked during the program.

Eric Wilson, CPA,is a Director in YPTC’s Dallas office. Prior to joining YPTC he served as an Audit Supervisor at a mid-size Houston-area public accounting firm, primarily servicing nonprofit and governmental clients. His public accounting experience includes audits of financial statements, Federal grant compliance (Uniform Guidance/A-133), and other compliance frameworks. Eric holds Bachelor and Master degrees in accounting from Texas Tech University. In addition to orientation training at YPTC Eric is a frequent presenter at external events; he was a speaker during last year’s AICPA & CIMA Governmental and Not-for-Profit Training Program and conducts sessions as part of the United Way of Greater Houston’s Financial Series.
Deanna Peterson joined YPTC in 2019, where she leads the Phoenix market and serves clients in Arizona and New Mexico. Before leading the market, Deanna spent two years as a Client Manager and about one year as an Associate at the firm. Deanna earned both Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Master of Professional Accounting Degrees from the University of Washington. She has over 20 years of accounting experience from a blend of Big 4 Accounting, nonprofit controllership, and nonprofit accounting consulting capacities. She is a frequent trainer and presenter, most recently for various nonprofit leadership conferences, such as AZ Impact for Good, Northern Arizona Nonprofit Leadership Summit, and United Way Western Regional Conference.
