VCS, Inc. (“VCS”) is seeking an Executive Director to build on its exceptional record of providing mental health clinical and coaching services with a social justice focus.

VCS is the leading behavioral health provider in the lower Hudson Valley area. Our mission is to empower people through compassionate, culturally sensitive clinical and coaching service that are accessible, and affordable; fostering hope and a healthier, more resilient community. Our services include mental health clinical and coaching services, family and elder care services, student advocacy, and domestic violence programs.
Working collaboratively with the community, VCS identifies and fills gaps in social services with programs in behavioral healthcare, training, and advocacy for those most in need. VCS offers affordable, multilingual and multicultural counseling and coaching services and family support programs.

Location
VCS is located in New City, New York, 30 miles north of New York City in Rockland County. Rockland County is comprised five towns and nineteen incorporated villages, with numerous unincorporated villages and hamlets. It is known for its quaint villages, spectacular river views and outdoor recreation.
About the Position
Reporting to the Board, the incoming Executive Director will inherit a high-performing organization renowned for its mental health and social services. The initial priorities of the Executive Director include:

- Developing and implementing fundraising strategies and activities.

- Seeking out and procuring grant opportunities.

- Keeping the Board up to date on all agency matters.

- Identifying and cultivating a growing list of donors.
-
- Maintaining beneficial relations with governmental officials and other key community stakeholders.

- Participating in community events that raise the agency’s profile.
- Monitoring staff hiring, performance evaluation and termination.
Key Responsibilities
The Executive Director provides leadership to the organization and oversees its day-to-day affairs. Under the supervision of the Board, the Executive Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising all VCS programs and activities while ensuring the principles of social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion are embedded throughout VCS and its program offerings. The Executive Director:

- Identifies and pursues grant opportunities and develops tools and resources necessary to support VCS’ continued financial health.

- Ensures that the Board is kept up to date on all issues by providing timely and accurate reports on all activities, plans, and other agency matters necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.

- Works with the Board to ensure that the VCS mission is fulfilled through its programs, partnerships, and community outreach efforts.

- Develops and cultivates relations with donors.

- Develops and oversees all fundraising strategies and activities.

- Ensures that financial resources are managed skillfully including establishing solid budgeting and accounting systems along with appropriate financial controls and risk-management strategies.

- Establishes and maintains positive communications and public relations with peers, key stakeholders, collaborative organizations, the media, and industry associations.

- Ensures VCS is operating in compliance with all laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

- Represents VCS at social and corporate events in ways that strengthen the brand and communicates the mission.

- Develops an organizational culture that promotes transparency and collaboration.

- Hires, supervises, and evaluates staff.
- Maintains a functional and safe work environment for all VCS staff and clients.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates for this position will share our commitment to the VCS mission and services. Requirements for the position include:

- Master’s Degree in behavioral healthcare or a related field preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years in the non-profit sector.

- Minimum of 3 years working in a behavioral health facility.

- Minimum of 1 year in an executive management position.

- Minimum of 2 years working with medical reimbursements, billing, and collection.
- Minimum of 1 year working with medical/Medicare/Medicaid programs reimbursements, billing, and collection.
The successful candidate will bring a variety of experiences and attributes to VCS including:

- Strong fundraising, marketing, and public relations experience with ability to engage and develop a consensus with a wide range of diverse stakeholders.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to think creatively and strategically to develop successful organizational strategies and goals.

- Ability to establish and implement plans, policies and procedures that lead to attaining organizational goals and objectives.

- Financial acuity with respect to financial documents, including budgets, cash flow, income statements, balance sheets, 990 tax returns, and audits.
- Proficient with computer technology and social media.
